Philippe Fix

Philippe Fix (* 1937 in Grendelbruch , Département Bas-Rhin , Alsace , France ) is a French comic artist and illustrator . In France he became very famous for the invention of the cartoon character " Chou-Chou ". Books with illustrations by Philippe Fix have been published in French, German, English, Italian, Finnish, Danish, Dutch, Welsh, Swedish, Norwegian (bokmål), Spanish, Afrikaans, Japanese, Lithuanian, Portuguese, and Hebrew.

Live and act

Philippe Fix was born in the tranquil Alsace town of Grendelbruch. As a young man he studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris .

From 1963 he created the comic character “Chou-Chou”, which made him one of the most important cartoonists among children of all ages in France. She became very famous with the magazine Salut les copains . In 1964 a new magazine named after her, Chouchou , started, and later she appeared in Pilote . In 1964 she released two CDs of her music, and Philippe Fix also wrote the lyrics for the song "La mascotte des copains". Jean-Jacques Debout gave Chouchou his voice, which was played back faster. Later on, Philippe Fix decided to draw almost exclusively illustrations for children's and adventure books. Fix's drawings can also be found in many German children's books. In addition to Maurice Sendak , Fix was Diogenes Verlag 's preferred draftsman for children's books in German-speaking countries .
