Arizona Reid (born March 11, 1986 in Gaffney , South Carolina ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Reid became a professional in Europe, where he played primarily in the Swiss national basketball league. In the ProA 2011/12 he played for the German second division club Mitteldeutscher BC from Weißenfels , who won the championship with him in this league and rose to the top German basketball division . Reid was named ProA Player of the Year.

Career

Reid grew up in Gaffney (South Carolina) on the North Carolina border and moved to High Point University in 2004 . There he played for the university team Panthers in the Big South Conference of NCAA Division I. The Panthers have never won a championship at this conference and were therefore represented in the national finals of the NCAA even during Reid's time . Reid is the only Panthers player to score more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his four-year college career . In 2007 and 2008, Reid was named Big South Conference Basketball Player of the Year.

After finishing his studies, Reid signed a professional contract with the traditional Italian second division club Pallacanestro Varese in 2008 . But after a foot injury in the pre-season, the contract was finally terminated and Reid completed games for the Devils from Geneva in the Swiss National Basketball League at the end of the season . In the following season 2009/10 Reid played in the Finnish Korisliiga for Uudenkaupungin Urheilijat Korihait from Uusikaupunki . He then signed a contract on the " fifth continent " with the Cairns Taipans in the National Basketball League , which was dissolved before the start of the season. Then Reid was briefly active in Lebanon before returning to the Swiss National League and working for the BBC from Monthey . Monthey only narrowly lost the cup final with one point against double winners Lugano Tigers , against whom they were also defeated in three games in the play-off semi- final series of the championship.

During the European summer break in 2011, Reid was then active in the Philippines in the Governor's Cup of the Philippine Basketball Association before he completed the season preparation for the 2011/12 season at the German first division relegated Mitteldeutscher BC in Weissenfels . The MBC decided to commit Reid and won with this at the end of the season the championship of the ProA 2011/12 and the immediate promotion. Reid himself was named ProA Player of the Year. A commitment for the following first division season did not succeed, according to the club. In the 2012/13 season Reid was active again in the Swiss National League and played for Olympic in Freiburg in Üechtland . This was followed by positions in the Philippine PBA league and at BK Cherkasski Mawpy in the Ukraine in the summer of 2013 .
