Harper James Kamp (born September 3, 1988 in Mesa , Arizona ) is an American basketball coach and former player. As a professional, he played for the Bundesliga clubs Göttingen and Bremerhaven, among others, and played 102 games in the highest German league.

Career

Kamp graduated from Mountain View High School , with whose school team he won the Arizona State Championship three times in a row. In 2007 he began studying at the University of California, Berkeley , with whose college team Golden Bears he played in the then Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) of the NCAA . In 2009, the Golden Bears reached the NCAA statewide finals , in which they were eliminated in the first round against the Terrapins of the University of Maryland, College Park . In the following season, Kamp suspended a season of championship games after knee surgery due to injury. After the Golden Bears had missed the final qualification again in 2011, they were eliminated in 2012 in Kamps last college season in the qualifying round ("First Four") against the Bulls of the University of South Florida .

Kamp went to Europe as a professional basketball player in 2012 and initially played in Greece for the first division promoted Panelefsiniakos from Elefsina in the A1 Ethniki . At the end of the season Kamp moved to the Macedonian runner-up KK Feni Industries from Kavadarci . This team missed at the end of the season in the play-off semi-final series against defending champion MZT Skopje the renewed entry into the finals. For the following season Kamp moved to the second German ProA division for BG Göttingen, which had missed the return to the top German division last year. In the ProA 2013/14 , however, the Göttingen team was able to win the championship of this division with Kamp, who was elected Player of the Year , and thus made it to the basketball Bundesliga .

After successfully staying in the Bundesliga in 2015, Kamp moved within the league and joined the MHP Giants Ludwigsburg , but both parties terminated the contract before the start of the Bundesliga and Eurocup seasons.

In November 2017, Kamp received a new contract with the BG Göttingen, which was valid until February 2018. The contract was then extended until March 2018. Then he went to the Malvin Montevideo club in Uruguay .

In January 2018, Kamp and his wife became parents of a daughter. Kamp and his family settled in Göttingen at the end of his playing days. At the end of September 2019, ASC 46 Göttingen announced that it had signed Kamp as assistant coach of the regional league team and youth coach.
