Christian Karl Standhardinger (born July 4, 1989 in Munich ) is a German - Filipino basketball player .
Career
Standhardinger, the son of a Filipino mother and a German father, began playing basketball in his hometown of Munich at the age of twelve. His first club was the DJK Sportbund München , before he switched to the basketball academy of the Schelklinger Urspring School in 2006 . There he played in the junior basketball league as well as for the cooperation team of the school, the TSG Ehingen, in the third-tier Pro B .
In 2009, as a promising talent, he moved to the United States to study and play further . After his expectations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Big Ten Conference of the NCAA were not fully met, he moved to college after two years. His originally planned move to La Salle University in Philadelphia failed, so that he finally moved to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa , where he had to suspend championship games for a year due to the regulations of the NCAA after the university change ( "redshirted" ).
In summer 2014 Standardhinger left the university and offered himself to various associations in Europe. Ultimately, in September 2014, he received a contract with Mitteldeutscher BC from the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) . At the MBC, Standhardinger established himself as a top performer in the BBL. After a year, however, he could not agree with the MBC on another contract and left the club again.
Standhardinger switched to the second-class ProA for the 2015/2016 season and joined the SC Rasta Vechta . In his first year he rose to the 1st basketball league with the Lower Saxony and immediately relegated. For the 2017/18 game year he moved to the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions in the former British colony. After the end of the season there Standhardinger went to the Filipino club San Miguel Beermen. With the team he reached the final series of the PBA Commissioner's Cup in 2018, but lost there. In May 2019 he won the Philippine championship with the team. He also won the PBA Commissioner's Cup with San Miguel in August 2019. San Miguel gave it to the NorthPort Batang Pier team in mid-October 2019 in exchange for the player Moala Tautuaa.
National team
In the summer of 2017, Standhardinger made his debut in the Philippine national team and won the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games with it. As a junior he had played international matches for the German Basketball Federation . He also took part in qualifying for the 2019 World Cup with the Philippines.
