Phosphoethanolamine is the phosphoric acid ester of monoethanolamine . It occurs as a structural section, for example in phosphatidylethanolamines and is a breakdown product of sphingosine-1-phosphate .

Phosphoethanolamine can be produced by the reaction of oxazolidin-2-one with phosphoric acid.
Another synthetic route is the ring opening of aziridine by phosphoric acid.
