The long handle Lige Rose Woodruff ( Phuopsis stylosa ) is the only species in the genus Rose woodruff or sham Woodruff ( Phuopsis ).

features

The long-handled rose forest master is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 15 to 20 centimeters. The stem is prostrate to ascending. The sheets are linear to narrowly elliptical and 12 to 30 millimeters long. There are six to nine of them arranged in a whorl. The crown is pink or, more rarely, white, fragrant and 12 to 15 millimeters long. The stylus protrude beyond the corolla tube.

The flowering period extends from June to August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.

Occurrence

The long-handled rose forest master occurs in the Caucasus region and in Iran in bushes and forest edges, on forest clearings and on rock corridors.

use

The long-handled rose forest master is rarely used as a ground cover ornamental plant for rock gardens and borders. The species has been in culture since 1836 at the latest. A few varieties are known. The plant needs a sunny to partially shaded, dry location with sandy soil in the garden. It can be increased by dividing and sowing.

Systematics

The long-handled rose forest master is the only species of the genus Phuopsis (Griseb.) Hook. f. This is in the subtribe Rubiinae of the tribe Rubieae in the subfamily Rubioideae Verdc. from the family of the redness plants (Rubiaceae).
