The Physarida are one of the five orders of the Myxogastria slime mold . It contains around 250 species in three families, around 100 of which belong to Physarum , the largest genus of Myxogastria at all.

features

Physarida species have dark, mostly black, spores in bulk . Peridium , capillitium , stem and hypothallus show, sometimes in combination, calcium deposits. The capillitium consists either of lime-free massive threads, lime-containing tubular threads or lime-free massive threads that are linked together by calcareous nodules. The vegetative stage is a phaneroplasmodium , so it is macroscopically large, spreading in a fan shape and has vein-like plasma strands.

The order was first described by Thomas Huston Macbride in 1922 and comprises 19 genera in three families with around 250 species:
