Ledergerber works primarily with stone, although his work also includes woodwork. His sculptures take the form of cubes or columns and are characterized by a strong presence in the room.

Although Ledergerber's works often appear to be layers of individual stone slabs, the starting point for his work is always a monolith . Material is removed from a single block of stone by cutting or targeted knocking away, so that the sculpture is created through reduction in a process that progresses layer by layer. In addition, Ledergerber also works with stone blocks that are split into individual parts, which are processed and then reassembled into their original shape. This composition takes place without the use of glue - hold is only created by the interlocking of the individual parts and their weight.

As a characteristic feature of Ledergerber's work, traces of processing remain in the stone during the creation process, which give his sculptures a pictorial texture.
