Ferdinand "Pic" Cattini (born September 27, 1916 in Grono , † August 17, 1969 in Davos ) was a Swiss ice hockey player . His brother Hans Cattini was also a Swiss national player.
Career
At club level, Ferdinand Cattini, who was usually called "Picolo" or "Pic" due to his small stature, played for HC Davos . There, together with his brother Hans Cattini and Richard Torriani, he formed the so-called “ni” storm, which was extremely successful for more than ten years. The three players won 15 Swiss championship titles with HC Davos.
Ferdinand Cattini took part for the Swiss national team in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and in 1948 in St. Moritz . With his team he won the bronze medal at the 1948 Winter Games. At the European Championship in 1932 and the World Championship in 1937 , he and his team won the bronze medal , and at the World Championship in 1935 the silver medal. As the best European team, Switzerland also became European champions at the 1935 World Cup.
In 1998 he was honored with induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame . One of the two preliminary round groups of the Spengler Cup has been named after him and his brother Hans since 2010 .
