Pierre François Antoine Huber
Pierre François Antoine Huber (born December 20, 1775 in Sankt Wendel , † April 25, 1832 in Paris ) was a German-born général de brigade of the French army.
As the son of the alleged house worker and back seat Franz Anton Huber and his wife Margaretha geb. Hauck, who later became a brigadier general, was baptized in the name of Peter ; He added the first names of his father (Franz Anton) to himself later.
Huber began his military career on August 13, 1793 as a volunteer in the French Revolutionary Army in the 1 er régiment de chasseurs à cheval . This regiment had been assigned to the Armée de la Moselle in December 1792 , which had pushed a division to St. Wendel in the spring of 1793. He took part in a number of campaigns and battles, such as the battle of Altenkirchen (June 4, 1796), the battle of Prussian Eylau (February 7–9, 1807), the campaigns in Spain and Portugal (1810/1811) as well in Russia (1812). He was wounded several times, for example on August 6, 1796 in the affaire de Bamberg when he was hit by a saber in the face, or when he was shot in the left shoulder blade during the Russian campaign.
Huber was promoted to colonel on March 11, 1813 . On March 15, 1814, Napoléon promoted him to the Général de brigade and gave him command of the 1 he régiment de chasseurs à cheval .
After Napoleon's return from Elba , the latter gave him command of the "1 er brigade de cavalerie" of the 2nd Army Corps North. Huber also fought in the Battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815, which brought Napoléon's final defeat. After the Napoleonic Wars, Huber was appointed inspector general of the cavalry on June 16, 1819. On January 29, 1823, Huber was assigned as Maréchal de camp of the Armée d'Espagne for the French invasion of Spain . On August 8, 1823, he was given the rank of lieutenant-general by the Duke of Angoulême , the king's brother, because of his successful military operations in Spain . On December 17, 1826, he retired from active service with a pension of 6000 francs, but was reappointed to the reserve cadre of the General Staff on February 7, 1831 in the wake of the July Revolution of 1830 . He died of cholera as a French naturalized since 1816 in Paris.
Huber had been married to Barbe since August 16, 1801, who was born in Bergzabern on January 5, 1777 , and who received a widow's pension of 1,500 francs after his death. From the marriage a son named Antoine Adolphe (1803-1849) emerged, who in 1841 as mayor (maire) of Algiers in a letter to King Louis-Philippe I campaigned to engrave his father's name on the Arc de Triomphe , what 1842 along with 23 other addenda also happened.
