Pierre Raffin

Pierre René Ferdinand Raffin OP (born February 13, 1938 in Nancy ) is Bishop Emeritus of Metz .

Life

After finishing school, he joined on 12 November 1957 to the Dominican order in and received on 5 July 1964, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Within the order he was professor from 1968 to 1971 at the Dominican training center in Saulchoir . From 1972 to 1978 and then again from 1984 to 1987 he was Secretary General of the Dominican Province of France. From 1978 to 1984 he served as prior of the Ascension Convention in Paris . Then, in addition to his work as General Secretary, he was a teacher and spiritual supervisor at the House of Saint-Augustin in Paris. Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Metz on August 4, 1987. The episcopal ordination donated him the Strasbourg Archbishop Charles Amarin Brand on October 11 the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Dijon , Jean Balland , and the Bishop of Oran , Pierre Lucien Claverie OP.

On September 27, 2013, Pope Francis accepted Pierre Raffin’s resignation because of his age.
