Pierrette Gabrielle Herzberger-Fofana (born March 20, 1949 in Bamako , Mali ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and an EU member of the parliamentary group of the Greens / European Free Alliance (Greens / EFA).
Life
Herzberger-Fofana grew up in Senegal . She completed a degree in German sociolinguistics in Paris and another degree from the University of Trier . She received her doctorate from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg with a dissertation on women's literature in francophone sub-Saharan Africa.
In 2005 Herzberger-Fofana was elected to the city council of Erlangen for the first time . She received the Helene Weber Prize in 2009 . While working as a teacher at the Ohm-Gymnasium Erlangen , she initiated the school's inclusion in the School Without Racism - School with Courage network . She is a board member at DaMigra, the umbrella organization for migrant women’s organizations. # 21 of the European list of Alliance 90 / The Greens Herzberger-Fofana moved in the European elections in Germany in 2019 in the European Parliament one. For the parliamentary group, she is a member of the Development Committee , of which she was also elected vice-chair. She is also an alternate member of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality .
She has three children.
