Pieter de Jode the Elder

Pieter de Jode the Elder (* 1570 in Antwerp ; † August 9, 1634 in Antwerp) was a Flemish engraver and publisher .
Life
Pieter de Jode was educated after his father Gerrit de Jode († 1599) and after Hendrick Goltzius and then went to Italy , where he worked in Siena and Rome . In 1601 he was back in Antwerp, where he became one of the most important engravers and graphic publishers .
He stabbed by Titian ( Betrothal of St. Catherine ), Jean Cousin ( The Last Judgment ), Peter Paul Rubens ( handing over the keys to Peter ), Anthony van Dyck , of him in his iconography recorded, etc. In its publisher in 1606 published the metamorphoses of Etcher Antonio Tempesta working in Rome .
For a short time he also worked in Paris with his son Pieter . He died in Antwerp in 1634.
