Piia Suomalainen (born July 9, 1984 in Helsinki ) is a former Finnish tennis player .

Career

Suomalainen started playing tennis at the age of four and preferred hard courts. She mainly played tournaments on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour , where she won five titles each in singles and doubles.

She made her debut in the Finnish Fed Cup team in 2002 , where she won 37 out of 70 games by 2018 , 22 singles and 15 doubles.

In 2016 she played in the German tennis Bundesliga for the TC Blau-Weiss Berlin in the 2nd division .

She played her last professional tournament in August 2018 in Savitaipale and has not been in the world rankings since November 2018.
