Savitaipale [ ˈsɑvitɑi̯pɑlɛ ] is a municipality in eastern Finland with 3429 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018). It is located in the South Karelia countryside , 37 kilometers west of the city of Lappeenranta .
The community center of Savitaipale is located on Lake Kuolimojärvi in the area of the Salpausselkä mountain range. The main road 13 of Kokkola to Lappeenranta traverses the municipality. In total there are around 2,500 holiday homes in Savitaipale . Sights of the community include the Partakoski rapids, the Kärnäkoski fortress, completed under Russian rule in 1793, and the granite church built by Josef Stenbäck in 1924 .
