The history
The museum was founded on August 12, 1928. It has been in the palace of the metropolitan city of Bari , on the seafront , since 1936 .
Art collections
The Pinacoteca has collections of medieval sculptures, decorative arts, Venetian paintings and paintings from southern Italy, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance ( Antonio Vivarini , Bartolomeo Vivarini , Giovanni Bellini , Paris Bordone , Paolo Veronese , Jacopo Tintoretto , Jacopo Palma the Younger ), by Paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, especially of the Neapolitan school ( Massimo Stanzione , Ottavio Vannini , Paolo Domenico Finoglio , Pacecco de Rosa , Matthias Stomer , Domenico Gargiulo , Guercino , Luca Giordano , Andrea Vaccaro , Nicola Malinconico , Giuseppe Bonito , many works by Corrado Giaquinto , Francesco de Mura , Oronzo Tiso , Paolo De Matteis ) and many Italian paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries ( Giovanni Boldini , Giuseppe de Nittis , Giovanni Fattori , Giuseppe Amisani , Giorgio de Chirico and Giorgio Morandi ).
