Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna
The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna is an art museum in Bologna and is managed by the Ministry of Cultural Assets, Cultural Activities and Tourism . The collection includes paintings from the Emilia region from the 13th to the 18th centuries, mostly works by the Bolognese School , as well as important works by artists associated with the city.
The museum is located in the former Jesuit novitiate San Ignazio in the university district (Via Belle Arti 56). In the same building is the Academy of Fine Arts ( Accademia di belle arti di Bologna ), whose predecessor was the Accademia Clementina. The collection received its first donation from Francesco Zambeccari in 1762. In the course of numerous church and monastery dissolutions between 1797 and 1810, the inventory was expanded, further dissolutions in 1866 brought renewed growth.
