Piotr Orzechowski mixes classical and improvised music, for example on his record debut under the title: Experiment: Penderecki ( Decca / Universal , 2012). This was an attempt to make the core of Krzysztof Penderecki's style visible by transferring his orchestral music to the solo piano. He proceeded in a similar way on his album Bukolik with the Ensemble High Definition Quartet (HDQ) and in the musical arrangement of Witold Lutoslawski's music for jazz quartet (ForTune, 2015). 2013 appeared again with the HDQ Hopasa with own compositions ( EmArcy Records / Universal , 2013) and Bach rewrite with Marcin Masecki and the Capella Cracoviensis ( Decca / Universal , 2013) and 2014 Studies for the Oberek ( Decca / Universal , 2014) in those Elements of Polish folk dance were processed.

In addition to his solo activity as a jazz pianist, he also performs with Polish orchestras such as the Sinfonia Varsovia , the National Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio in Katowice, the AUKSO chamber orchestra, and the Polish radio orchestra.

He has worked with modern composers such as Philip Glass , Steve Reich or Krzysztof Penderecki and has performed with jazz musicians such as Randy Brecker , Avishai Cohen , Victor Mendoza and Michal Urbaniak and had projects with Adrian Utley with Portishead , Carlos Zingaro , Skalpel , Wiliam Basinski and Fennesz .

In 2017 he released an album entitled '24 Preludes & Improvisations' ( Decca / Universal ), on which 24 improvisations are arranged chromatically in 12 keys in the form of preludes in a circle of fifths, in major and minor keys. It is based on Johann Sebastian Bach .
