Piotr Sztompka

Piotr Sztompka (born March 2, 1944 in Warsaw ) is a Polish sociologist .

He teaches as a professor at the University of Krakow and has been visiting professor at various US universities ( University of California, Los Angeles ; Columbia University ; University of Michigan ; Johns Hopkins University ), the University of Rome and Zeppelin University .

Sztompka is a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea as well as an external member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . From 2002 to 2006 he was President of the International Sociological Association .
