Pyatro Krautschanka

Pyatro Krautschanka (born August 13, 1950 in Smaljawitschy , Minskaya Woblasz , Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic , Soviet Union ) is a Belarusian politician and diplomat .

Krautschanka studied at the Belarusian State University in Minsk until 1972 and in 1976 obtained the academic degree of doctor (candidate) in history. From 1975 he worked as a lecturer at the Minsk University. In 1985, when Mikhail Gorbachev took office as general secretary of the CPSU , Krautschanka also entered politics. That year he took over the post of secretary of the municipal organization of the CPSU in Minsk.

On July 17, 1990, ten days before the Belarusian parliament declared the Belarusian Soviet Republic to be “sovereign”, Krautschanka was appointed Foreign Minister of the Union Republic. With the collapse of the Soviet Union , he became the first foreign minister of the independent Republic of Belarus . In 1994 he was replaced by Uladsimir Sjanko . From 1998 to 2002 Krautschanka was Belarusian ambassador to Japan , from 1999 also responsible for the Philippines .
