Plácido Rodríguez CMF (born October 11, 1940 in Celaya ) is a Mexican-American religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Lubbock .

Life

Plácido Rodríguez joined the Order of the Claretians and was ordained a priest on May 23, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Chicago and titular bishop of Fuerteventura on October 18, 1983 . The Archbishop of Chicago, Joseph Louis Cardinal Bernardin , donated him episcopal ordination on December 13 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Alfred Leo Abramowicz and Nevin William Hayes OCarm , from Chicago.

He was named Bishop of Lubbock on April 5, 1994, and inducted into the office on June 1 of that year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 27, 2016.
