Plöcking is a district of the Upper Austrian market town of Sankt Martin im Mühlkreis . The place name Plöcking is explained by the former field name on the bare (pleckigen) stone and has always been a reference to stone extraction. The single-layer farms (Aichinger, Pühringer, Bauer zu Hart) date back to an early settlement around 1000. Plöcking is created with the extraction of granite at the time of the Gothic building huts (castle building Schloss Neuhaus an der Donau ) in the 14th century. Plöcking achieved economic importance through the expansion of the granite works from 1869 and under Poschacher from 1876. Of the around 20 quarries, two large quarries are currently still in operation.
