Plamen Oresharsky

Plamen Wassilew Oresharski (also written Plamen Vasilev Oresharski , Bulgarian Пламен Василев Ореша̀рски ; born February 21, 1960 in Bobow Dol , Kyustendil Oblast ) is a Bulgarian politician and was Prime Minister of the country from May 29, 2013 to July 23, 2014 . Oresharsky was previously finance minister in the government of Sergei Stanishev (2005–2009) and deputy finance minister in the government of Ivan Kostov (1997–2001).

After the early parliamentary elections in 2013 , Oresharski, who was not part of a party , was appointed and elected Prime Minister by a coalition consisting of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the Turkish Minority Movement for Rights and Freedoms . The government was also supported by the nationalist Ataka party . Oresharsky had already been launched as leader of an expert government during the election campaign by Sergei Stanishev.

In the second week of his term in office, there were nationwide protests against him because of his appointment policy in filling key state posts and the breach of election promises . Although an expert government had been promised during the election campaign, the majority of the ministerial posts and their deputies were filled by representatives of the Stanishev government . When the law for the appointment of the controversial media mogul and banker's son Deljan Peewski was "cobbled into shape" and Peewski was appointed head of the secret service by parliament in an urgent vote, even before a threatened legal veto by the Bulgarian President Rossen Plevneliev , Oresharsky lost popular support and the confidence of Plewneliev.
