Plasan Sasa ( Hebrew פלסן סאסא) is an Israeli defense company and vehicle manufacturer.

history

The company was founded in 1985 and specializes in the production of armored vehicles, armor for military vehicles , aircraft , ships and civilian special protection vehicles. The main buyers for the armored vehicles are the US military , the Israeli armed forces and the Israeli police . The SandCat model is also exported to Bulgaria and Sweden.

In 2006, Plasan Sasa acquired Vermont Composite's automotive parts production facility in Bennington and then founded Plasan USA, Incorporated . In 2008 the company was renamed Plasan Carbon Composites . There are carbon fiber reinforced plastic body components, among other things, Chevrolet Corvette , Dodge Viper SRT10 and Ford Mustang made.

In 2007, Plasan Sasa acquired 45 percent of the French LSI Group, which includes AMEFO and Bérard. Among other things, AMEFO produces armor for French military vehicles (for example the VBL ), while Bérard specializes in the precision machining of sheet metal from a wide variety of metals.

Plasan Sasa is operated as a privately owned company by Kibbutz Sasa (Upper Galilee) and is the third most profitable kibbutz in the country. In 2008 the company had around 1,100 employees, 730 of them in Kibbutz Sasa, 200 in the USA and 160 in France.
