Platz is a hamlet in the northwest of the Bergisch city of Remscheid .
history
There were several ore huts in the court, as confirmed by documents. In 1554 a raft furnace stood here and in 1642 an " ironworks " is proven.
Location and geography
The village belongs to the district of Alt-Remscheid and lies in the valley of the Morsbach between Gründerhammer and Clemenshammer in a brook arch at an altitude of 170 to about 200 meters above sea level . As in the entire Morsbachtal , there have been metal production and processing companies here since pre-industrial times. Several metal processing companies are still located on site today.
On November 16, 1891, with the opening of the Clarenbach - Gerstau - Müngsten section of the meter-gauge Ronsdorf-Müngsten Railway, the connection to the railway network took place. Platz had its own station. The railway was primarily used to transport goods to and from the companies. Rail traffic was discontinued in the section up to Gründerhammer on November 26, 1954. Today wrong in public transport only once every working day (Monday - Friday), a bus and four times a Bürgerbus .
