Plavac Mali Crni (or Mali Plavac , literal translation: Little Blue ) is an old, autochthonous red wine variety of southern Croatia and the southern Croatian islands . Outstanding wines such as Postup , Faros or Dingač are made from it . The full-bodied red wines are usually very dark, high in alcohol and sometimes very tannic when young . The aromas were often reminiscent of cherries, sometimes blackberries. Their shelf life is excellent.
A cuvée made from 70% Mali Plavac and 30% Vranac from the 2012 vintage, which the Macedonian Winery Tikveš is bringing to the market as Bela voda red by the French oenologist Philippe Cambie , is currently that of Robert Parker with 95 points today (as of early 2015) Highly rated wine from the Balkan Peninsula in the most widely used wine rating system.
The vine is probably a cross between the two varieties Dobričić and Crljenak kaštelanski . The latter is genetically identical to the Zinfandel widespread in California and to the Apulian Primitivo . It is low-growing and poor in yield.
