Podlasly played 111 games for Hamborn in five rounds of the Oberliga and moved to Hannover 96 in the summer of 1963.
Hannover 96, 1963 to 1971
Since from the Oberliga Nord with Hamburger SV , Werder Bremen and Eintracht Braunschweig the three representatives to the north had been nominated for the new Bundesliga from 1963/64, the 1963/64 round in Hanover was clearly about in the new Regionalliga Nord the climb. The “Reds” won their first game on August 11, 1963 4-0 at SC Victoria Hamburg , so the start was a success. On October 27, 1963 there was a 1: 2 defeat in the local derby against the "blues" of SV Arminia Hannover in front of 35,000 spectators in the Lower Saxony Stadium. Behind the champions FC St. Pauli , the team of coach Helmut Kronsbein won the runner-up and moved into the promotion round. This round was opened with the 2: 1 success at Südmeister KSV Hessen Kassel and also successfully concluded with the 3: 1 home win on June 28, 1964 in front of 70,000 spectators against the same opponent. Hannover 96 and its goalkeeper Podlasly were the first to be promoted to the German Bundesliga. In the three home games, 187,000 spectators streamed into the Lower Saxony stadium. Podlasly played 33 games in the Regionalliga and all six games in the promotion round.
