The Pohronský Inovec is a small mountain range in Slovakia with a diameter of approx. 15 km. In the past, the area was assigned to the Vogelgebirge , but today it is viewed as an independent unit.

Location and limitation

Pohronský Inovec is located on the border of the Banská Bystrica and Nitra districts , east of the town of Zlaté Moravce . It is part of the Slovak Central Uplands , which it closes off to the west.

The mountains are limited

character

The mountains are of volcanic origin. Its slopes are mostly densely forested, mostly oak, in higher areas beech dominate. The highest point is the Velký Inovec (901 m).

Attractions

The Starohutský vodopad waterfall and the Živanska veža castle ruins are tourist attractions in the mountains, which are suitable for hiking and cycling .
