The Vogel Mountains within the geomorphological division of Slovakia
The Vogelgebirge ( Vtáčnik in Slovak ) is a mountain range in central Slovakia . It is part of the Slovak Central Uplands , which belongs to the Inner Western Carpathians .
It is limited
- in the northwest and north through the Hornonitrianska kotlina ("Oberneutraer Kessel"),
- in the northeast of the Kremnické vrchy mountains ,
- in the east of the Žiarska kotlina ("Žiarer Kessel"),
- in the southeast of the Štiavnické vrchy mountains ,
- in the southwest of the Pohronský Inovec and
- in the west of the Tribetz Mountains (Tribeč).
The mountain range is divided into four further geomorphological sub-units:
- Vysoký Vtáčnik
- Nízky Vtáčnik
- Župkovská brázda
- Raj
The highest peak is the 1346 m high Vtáčnik (also Hrádok ).
