Poiret barberry ( Berberis poiretii ) is a species in the genus of barberry ( Berberis ) in the family of Barberry (Berberidaceae). Poirets barberry is native to north-east China , Mongolia , east Siberia and Korea .

description

Poiret's barberry is a deciduous (deciduous) up to 1 meter high graceful shrub . The branches are overhanging, reddish-brown and angular, the thorns are usually in one piece, up to 1 centimeter long or absent. The leaves are narrowly lanceolate, up to 4 centimeters long, wide-veined, with entire margins and green on both sides. The flowers that appear in May are bright yellow and 11 to 18 in loose clusters. The elongated fruits are red.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Like many other barberries, this species is also used as an ornamental shrub.
