Poison Ivy - The New Seduction (Original title: Poison Ivy: The New Seduction ) is an American thriller from 1997 . Directed by Kurt Voss , the screenplay was written by Karen Kelly .

Ivan Greer, a wealthy man, lives in California with his wife Catherine and daughter Joy . Housekeeper Rebecca, a single mother, also lives in the Greer family home with her two daughters, Ivy and Violet. The three children of about the same age grow up there together. There seems to be a harmonious coexistence in the house until Ivan Greer catches Rebecca in bed with a lover. He is jealous because he is also having an affair with Rebecca and gets violent towards his competitor. Catherine overhears the argument and learns about the relationship between her husband and Rebecca. The peace in the house is now destroyed and Rebecca has to leave the house with her two daughters.

11 years later, Violet appears at the Greer's family and is warmly welcomed by Joy. Violet has now become a young, attractive and seductive woman, full of thoughts of revenge because of her mother's expulsion at the time, and with a sadistic touch. She earns her money as a call girl , who is also available to her customers as a dominatrix , but keeps it a secret from the Greer family. She intervenes intensively in the life of the family in order to avenge her mother and to become the new landlady at Ivan's side, who is now widowed. After seducing Joy's boyfriend Michael and is on the best way to destroy the relationship between the two, she turns to Ivan.

But soon all of Violet's intrigues see through, especially the current housekeeper Mrs. B., so that Violet no longer shrinks from murder. She murders the housekeeper and hides her body in the house. Then she sneakily knocks Michael down and kills him with a drug injection. When Ivan has a heart attack , Violet doesn't help him. He drags himself to the garage, sits in the car there and passes out. Violet starts the car so the car exhaust does the rest. Then Joy appears, who has since learned of the murder of her friend Michael. Violet threatens Joy and forces her to ingest poison. She tells her that she will then also take poison in order to go to death with her. Joy defends herself and pours the poisoned tea on Violet's face. In a subsequent scuffle, Violet falls down the stairs and is fatally injured.

Poison Ivy - The New Seduction is the second sequel to the 1992 thriller Poison Ivy . The film was shot in Los Angeles . It was released direct to video in the US and UK.

Reviews

Brian Webster wrote in the Apollo Movie Guide that the film was technically well made and offered attractive actors who would, however, act one-dimensional. He doesn't convey a message. The film is planned as erotic, but context-free eroticism does not appear erotic (“eroticism without context isn't really eroticism at all”).

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was a "psychological thriller with a sadomasochistic impact and soft erotic elements that told its strange story without tension". He offers “fashionable images” that “cannot hide the dubious pleasure with a bland aftertaste”.
