Poison the Well is a post-hardcore / metalcore band from Miami , Florida . They are considered to be one of the most respected bands in their genre and have had a tremendous impact since their first album in 1998. The American trade magazine Guitar World counts the album The Opposite of December , released in 1999, among the 100 most important rock albums of all.
history
The band called An Acre Lost at the beginning was after two albums released by Trustkill Records temporarily under contract with Atlantic Records , from which the band separated again prematurely due to differences. The album, entitled Versions , was released on April 3, 2007 via Ferret Records .
Songs that were made into versions during the recording , but not made available to the public for the time being, were released as part of three 7 "vinyl singles between November 2008 and May 2009. For the limited EP I / III II / III III / III available on the occasion of Record Store Day , all six tracks of the singles were combined. As bonus tracks , they were also found in different versions of the fifth studio album The Tropic Rot , which was released on July 7, 2009 via Ferret Records.
In 2004 Geoff Bergman (bass) and Derek Miller (guitar) left the band, so that with Ryan Primack (guitar) and Chris Hornbrook (drums) only two founding members were active. Jeffrey Moreira, who has been the vocalist on all of the band's albums since 1999, is part of the band's core.
In July 2010, Poison the Well announced that it would take an indefinite break. In mid-2015 the band played two reunion concerts on US soil.
