The Polarmail Ledge is a relatively flat and wedge-shaped plateau in the Darwin Mountains of the Transantarctic Mountains . It is located 2000 m high above Communication Heights in the southern part of the Midnight Plateau . In height and appearance, it is similar to the Skilton Ledge 1.5 km to the east .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 2001 in connection with the services of the radio operator Richard Chapman Johnson from Nazareth , Pennsylvania , the 1985-2001 instrumental in the operational coordination of the Military Auxiliary Radio System and Polar mail for communication by scientists in Antarctica with their Home countries had contributed.
