The Polder Bramel is a floodplain in the unified municipality of Schiffdorf in the district of Cuxhaven . It is located northeast of Bramel in the Geeste floodplain .

The polder, which is around 150  hectares in size, was created in the 19th century by straightening and dike the Geeste. The previously naturally flooded area was drained and cultivated , any natural flooding that still occurred was held back by the general plan for large-scale drainage in 1959. By subsidence of the dehydrated fen soil came in the late 1970s to the first dam failures. Since the continuation of agricultural use became more and more complex and could only be maintained through dike renovation and ongoing drainage measures, the polder was abandoned in 1994 and reconnected to the Geeste in the summer of 1995 by three dike penetrations. As a result, the site was flooded over a large area. A biotope was created with bodies of water, mud banks, wet meadows and unused areas.

Today the polder Bramel presents itself as a year-round wide area flooded, vegetation poor wetland with reed zones and grassland areas. Extensive management of the grassland takes place in the peripheral areas.

The Polder Bramel is a habitat for water birds , wading birds and meadow birds and an important resting and wintering area for migratory birds . So come here u. a. Sea and fish eagle , Bluethroat and Kingfisher ago. Furthermore, u. a. Water and pond bats and otters are native here.

The polder north of the nature reserve " Sellstedter See and Ochsentriftmoor / Wildes Moor " forms a biotope network with this and the Polder Glies, which is part of the nature reserve .

In the south of the polder there is an observation tower from which the area can be viewed.
