There they recorded their album of the same name, which was mixed in the Real World Studios founded by Peter Gabriel . In spring 2020 it was released on Progressive Promotion Records.

style

Polis stand in the tradition of progressive rock music as well as hard rock, "retro-heavy rock meets prog rock" reviewers also emphasize the "tradition of so-called east rock bands from the 70s and 80s" or an "affinity for krautrock and above all to the East German Artrock ”. Singer Christian Roscher denies a closer conscious reliance, "In the majority, however, we are not influenced by Ostrock". The band prefers analog instruments, typically using a Hammond organ and Moog Minimoog synthesizer.

The texts are written exclusively in German. According to singer Christian Roscher, the German lyrics are “the anchor point of our songs”. According to a review by Deutschlandfunk, the poetry contains culture of "naturalism and existentialism permeated texts full of poetry."

reception

To the album Sein :

“Music as if it had fallen out of time - with lyrics full of poetry [...] they get inspiration for their own sound from Krautrock, the great rock albums of the 1970s and Ostrock right up to the late romantic classical music. In addition, they sing poetic texts permeated with naturalism and existentialism. "

- Martin Risel : Naturalistic rock from Vogtland, Deutschlandradio Kultur

About the album Weltklang :
In a review on streetclip.de, the album received the highest rating with 10 out of 10 points.

“In a nutshell, 'Weltklang' is the best German-language Artock album of recent years. [...] POLIS are unique these days and with ´Weltklang´ they effortlessly assert themselves in the neighborhood of many classics of art and herb rock history. "

- Michael Haifl : POLIS - Weltklang on streetclip.de

“To get straight to the point, with the new album the five musicians have created a masterpiece. It is bursting with musical sophistication and diversity, both in the music and in the lyrics. "
