The three police departments of Saxony-Anhalt.

The Police Department of Saxony-Anhalt South was one of the three police departments of the Saxony-Anhalt Police until December 31, 2018 . Its headquarters are at Merseburger Strasse 6 in Halle (Saale) . The last police chief was Chief Police Director Mario Schwan.

The police headquarters in Saxony-Anhalt South included the Halle (Saale) police station , the Saale district with its headquarters in Merseburg , the Burgenland district with its headquarters in Weißenfels , Mansfeld-Südharz with its headquarters in Eisleben and the police station for the Federal Motorway / Specialized Traffic Monitoring with its headquarters in Weißenfels.

The two other police departments in the state were the Saxony-Anhalt North Police Department in Magdeburg and the Saxony-Anhalt East Police Department in Dessau-Roßlau .

It was formed in 2007 and was initially headed by Walter Schumann . From 2011 to 2017, Christiane Bergmann was police chief.

The tasks of the Police Department of Saxony-Anhalt South have been taken over by the Halle (Saale) Police Department since January 1, 2019 .
