The Polska Wytwórnia Printing Works Spółka Akcyjna (short form: PWPW SA) is the Polish state security printing . Your buildings are at the northern end of Warsaw's New Town . history

The State Graphic Works (Polish: Państwowe Zakłady Graficzne ) were founded on January 25, 1919 on the basis of a decision by the cabinet of the government of Ignacy Jan Paderewski . One year after the company was founded, the first banknote was produced: one hundred Polish marks , based on a project by Adam Jerzy Półtawski . In 1925 the company was transformed into Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych SA . Between 1926 and 1929, today's buildings were built according to a design by the architect Antoni Dygat. In 1932, the first rotogravure banknote was produced - a 100 złoty note designed by Józef Mehoffer . At the International Stamp Exhibition in Vienna in 1933, stamps produced in the PWPW received an honorary mention. In the 1930s, many products were made by well-known Polish artists of their time - such as Zofia Stryjeńska , Wacław Borowski , Zygmunt Kamiński , Ryszard Kleczewski , Marian Romuald Polak and Włodzimierz Vacek , and later also by Czesław Słania .

During the German occupation in World War II , the printing plant was under German supervision. In addition to banknotes, identification cards, ration cards and various official German documents were also printed during that time. In addition, a group of employees ( Podziemna Wytwórnia Banknotów ) in the PWPW secretly produced documents for the Polish resistance. In 1944, during the Warsaw Uprising, the printing plant's premises were an important part of the Polish resistance. Around 100 soldiers of the Polish Home Army were killed here in 27 days of bitter fighting . The buildings of the printing house were considerably destroyed. After the end of the war, the facility was rebuilt, and during the construction period (until 1950) printing was continued in printing plants in Łódź and Krakow . In 1945, the printing works became state property and renamed Państwowa Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych SA . In 1996, the printing house was given its historical and now valid name: Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych Spółka Akcyjna . In 1999 the company was converted into a holding company in order to integrate or enable investments.

At the end of June 2012, the Polish Football Association announced that PWPW would be Ekstraklasa's technology partner from the 2012/13 season .
