The Pomeranian War and Domain Chamber was the central authority of the Prussian province of Pomerania . It existed under this name from 1723 to 1808.

history

King Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia reorganized the administration in the Prussian state in 1723. He had the official chambers and war commissariats that had previously existed in the Prussian provinces merged into war and domain chambers . In the province of Pomerania , the Pomeranian War and Domain Chamber was created from the two authorities in Stargard in Pomerania, the War Commissariat and the Official Chamber. This was moved to Stettin in 1723 .

The Pomeranian War and Domain Chamber became the actual central authority of the Pomerania province. The scope of duties of the previous Pomeranian government , which was also relocated from Stargard to Stettin in 1723, was essentially limited to jurisdiction and church and school matters. According to the historian Martin Wehrmann (1861–1937), the new authority "found it particularly difficult to create order in Pomerania, as the situation was very dilapidated". The first president of the chamber was Philipp Otto von Grumbkow (1684–1752).

In 1808 the war and domain chambers in Prussia were converted into governments . The Pomeranian War and Domain Chamber was moved from Stettin, which was occupied by France, to Stargard in 1808; there it was converted into a government college in 1808.

When it was founded in 1723, the Pomeranian War and Domain Chamber consisted of a president, a director, a forester and 16 councilors. There were also other sub-officials.
