Pontiac is an American psychedelic rock - band , which in 2005 Baltimore was founded. She is made up of the brothers Jennings, Lain and Van Carney and is currently under contract with Thrill Jockey Records . They record a mix of psychedelic rock and folk on their farm near Warrenton, Virginia .

history

Beginnings (2005-2006)

After the three brothers had played separately in different bands in Europe and the USA, they met in Baltimore in 2005 and played the EP White Buffalo on a farm on Holtzclaw Road in Warrenton, Virginia . This was released in the same year on their own label Fireproof Records. Her first album Valley of Cats was released on this in 2006 , which can now be downloaded for free from last.fm.

Thrill Jockey Records (since 2007)

On the following tour through the USA they wrote new material, with which they finally got a recording contract with Thrill Jockey Records. Her second album, which was also the first on their new label, a year later under the name Sun on Sun published. Together with Arbouretum , who are also under contract with Thrill Jockey Records, they recorded a split EP with covers of John Cale songs called Kale , which was released in early 2008. As a result, a tour with Arbouretum followed.

In April 2009, their third album Maker was followed by a tour through America and a tour of Europe with the befriended psychedelic rock band Earthless . During this tour they distributed the tour LP Sea Voids in a limited edition of 1,000 records . After another tour through Europe with White Hills, their fifth album Living was released in May 2010 .
