22-year-old Wye lives with her siblings at the Port Authority central bus station in New York City . When 20-year-old drifter Paul comes to New York and sees Wye, he is instantly stunned by her beauty. A love blossoms between the two. Wye introduces Paul to the underground LGBTQ subculture of New York and introduces him to her chosen family. When Paul realizes that Wye is also trans, he has to be clear about his feelings for her, but also deal with his own identity.

Directed by Danielle Lessovitz , who also wrote the script. The San Francisco-born filmmaker deals with marginalized communities and taboos in her work . After training as a documentary filmmaker, she traveled around the United States and abroad before moving to New York to do her Masters in Film Production at New York University, where she received a scholarship.

Leyna Bloom can be seen in the role of the transsexual Wye. Fionn Whitehead plays Paul.

The film premiered on May 18, 2019 at the Cannes International Film Festival , where it will be screened in the Un Certain Regard series. In August 2019 it was presented at the Melbourne International Film Festival. In September 2019 the film was shown in the main competition at the American Film Festival in Deauville . In October 2019 it was presented at the Warsaw International Film Festival and the Haifa International Film Festival.

The film has so far received the approval of 90 percent of the critics at Rotten Tomatoes and received an average rating of 6.6 of the possible 10 points, making it one of the middle places in the films presented in Cannes.
