Port O'Brien was a California based indie / folk band. The band consisted of Van Pierszalowski ( vocals , guitar ), Cambria Goodwin ( banjo , vocals, mandolin ), Tyson Vogel ( drums ), Ryan Stively ( bass ) and Gram Lebron (guitar, keyboard ).
history
Port O'Brien first formed a folk duo in 2005. The band name came from a bay on Kodiak Island in Alaska , which housed a now closed canning factory, where the parents of the band's founder Pierszalowski had met.
At first the band consisted of Van Pierszalowski and his girlfriend Cambria Goodwin, who recorded the first few rudimentary acoustic EPs together and sold them at concerts. A year later, drummer Joshua Barnhart and bassist Caleb Nichols joined, who was later replaced by Ryan Stively. At the end of 2007, Zebedee Zaitz was the last member to join the band as guitarist. Barnhart and Zaitz left the band in early 2009 and were replaced by Tyson Vogel ( Two Gallants ) and Gram Lebron.
During their active time, the band toured u. a. with Nada Surf , Bright Eyes and Modest Mouse .
In May 2011 the band announced their breakup.
