At Deutsche Post AG, there are numerous of the types of mail mentioned, although the product range has been expanded to include various offers since the 1990s.

Fees

The fee or Porto (plural: postage or postage ; originally from lat. : Porto "I Wear", taken from the Italian ) is the price of the service. In public post operators, the term postal rates used. These fees are paid by buying and sticking postage stamps , by printing them with special stamp machines or by electronic “postage stamps”. This process was known as franking or franking .

The largest German provider of postal services, Deutsche Post AG, is also the provider of a nationwide universal postal service in accordance with the Universal Postal Service Ordinance. The prices for letters have been kept constant since January 1, 2016, but were increased on July 1, 2019 with the approval of the Federal Network Agency. Since the prices were lower in European comparison, the tariffs were increased. This should make the mail transport more profitable for the postal company.
