Pouya Norouzi Nezhad (born June 23, 1994 in Ardabil ) is an Iranian handball player .

Career

Beginnings

Norouzi Nezhad started playing handball at the age of nine. His PE teacher nominated him for a performance test and so he decided to pursue the sport.

Professional career

After he was nominated for the Iranian men's national team for the first time at the age of 18 (see also national team ), he switched from the Iranian handball team Magnesium Ferdows to the first division handball team Bergischer HC in spring 2017 . After he was relegated at the end of the 2016/17 season, Norouzi left the club and joined the Kadetten Schaffhausen . In the summer of 2018 he moved to the German Bundesliga club VfL Gummersbach . After Nezhad was without a club after the 2018/19 season, he joined the Swedish first division club IK Sävehof in October 2019 . In February 2020 he moved to the German first division club Frisch Auf Göppingen . He has been playing at HSC 2000 Coburg since the 2020/21 season .

National team

Already at the age of 15 Pouya Norouzi Nezhad played in the youth national team of Iran. At the age of 18 he was nominated for the men's national team for the first time and also took part in Iran's only ever World Cup participation in 2015 .
