Povilas Babarskas (born December 13, 1988 in Kaunas , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian handball player .

Career

The native Lithuanian began his active professional career with HC Granitas Kaunas , with whom he made his international debut in the 2006/07 season in the EHF Challenge Cup . In 2007/08 he took part in the Challenge Cup again with the capital city and a year later even in the group stage of the EHF Champions League . In 2010 he moved to Austria to HIT Innsbruck . After he won the runner-up title with the Tyroleans in the 2011/12 season , he moved to Bregenz Handball in Vorarlberg . Between 2015/16 and 2016/17 Babarskas played for RK Celje from Slovenia . In 2017/18 he was signed again by Bregenz Handball.

Povilas Babarskas is part of the Lithuanian national team , but has not yet qualified for an international tournament. In the play-offs of the 2015 men's handball world championship against Russia , he was the most accurate thrower of his team with twelve goals.

Personal

His brother Gerdas Babarskas is also a handball player and is currently under contract with Chambéry Savoie HB .
