Presidential election in South Korea 2022
The 20th presidential election in South Korea is scheduled to take place in 2022. Due to the fact that presidencies in the country are limited to one term, incumbent Moon Jae-in is not allowed to reapply.
The decision is made by a majority vote (ie without a runoff ) in one go.
Possible candidates
There is speculation in the media about a number of possible candidates from the Deobureo-minju and Mirae-tonghap parties .

- Lee Nak-yeon : Prime Minister 2017-2020, member of the Gukhoe for the Jongno-gu since the 2020 general election
- Kim Boo-kyum : Minister of the Interior 2017–2019, MP in the Gukhoe for Seat A of the Suseong-gu of Daegu since the general election in 2016 , MP for Gunpo 2000–2012
- Lee Jae-myung : Governor of Gyeonggi-do since 2018 and former Mayor of Seongnam 2010-2018
- Kim Kyoung-soo : Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do since 2018, MP for Gimhae 2016-2018
- Rhyu Si-min : chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation and former health minister 2006-2007, MP for Deogyang-gu Goyang 2003-2008
