Precision Castparts ( PCC ) is a US company based in Portland , Oregon . Precision Castparts was founded on April 1st, 1953 by Joseph Buford Cox.
PCC is the largest foundry company in the United States . 70% of sales are made in aircraft construction, 17% go into power plant construction. The largest customer here is General Electric . There are parts made of nickel -, titanium -, steel - and cobalt - alloys prepared. In 2013, PCC led the Toxic 100 Index .
PCC owns the subsidiaries Wyman-Gordon , Timet and the Special Metals Corporation (SMC).
In August 2015, it was announced that Berkshire Hathaway plans to acquire the company for $ 30 billion ; this was done in January 2016.
