The Silver Explorer is a cruise ship the cruise line Silversea Cruises .

history

Rear view

The ship is a former ferry built in Finland in 1989 , which initially operated in the Baltic Sea as Delfin Clipper .

The ship was renovated in 2017 and adapted to the standard of the highest luxury class.

The Bremen- based shipping company Society Expeditions acquired the ferry from Samsung Industries in May 2000 after the loss of their ship World Discoverer . She had the ship rebuilt in a shipyard in Singapore and put it into service in April 2002 as the new World Discoverer for cruises . Areas of application were the islands of the South Pacific, the Far East of Russia and Alaska as well as the Antarctic . When the company went bankrupt in 2004, the ship's use ended. It was initially on in Singapore for some time.

The shipping company Silversea Cruises acquired the ship on September 17, 2007 from Sembawang Shipyard and had it converted by Fincantieri in Monfalcone for use in the Pacific . Since June 1, 2008, the ship, designed for 111 crew members and 132 passengers, was operated as the Prince Albert II and renamed the Silver Explorer in 2011 .
