The Prix ​​lémanique de la traduction , in German translation prize of the Lake Geneva region , is a translation prize that was created in 1985 in Lausanne . Every three years, it honors one translator from German into French and one translator in the opposite direction, from the genres of beautiful literature or humanities.

The Foundation

The award was launched in 1985 by a foundation of the same name. The founders are the Center de traduction littéraire de Lausanne at the University of Lausanne , the Swiss Translation Center Looren , the Jan Michalski Foundation for Writing and Literature , the Sandoz Family Foundation , the Lottery of French-speaking Switzerland and the diplomatic missions of France and Germany in Switzerland.

In 2015, the Board of Trustees consists of Irene Weber Henking as President, Thomas Breymann, Jürg Altwegg , Bernhard Böschenstein , Christophe Büchi, Alain Faucherre, Beatrice Stoll and Gabriela Stöckli. The award recognizes translators with outstanding achievements who have created translations from the disciplines of literature, philosophy or the humanities and who at the same time show a special interest in the culture of the other language area.
