Josef Winiger

Josef Winiger (* 1943 in Kestenholz ) is a Swiss translator and author .

Life

Winiger was born in the canton of Solothurn and grew up there. He studied philosophy , sociology and psychology in Paris and Aix-en-Provence for four years , from 1969 in Munich . In 1977 he received his doctorate, supervised by Ernesto Grassi , with a thesis on Feuerbach's path to humanism . He then worked for two years at the Munich Adult Education Center before becoming a freelance translator. He mainly translates from French into German.

Winiger is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ, as well as a member of the Munich Translators' Forum and the Association of the Assises de la Traduction Littéraire en Arles , ATLAS.
