Front'e Mola (also called Su Saccu or Su Sauccu) is a protonuraghe with a rectangular floor plan. It is located high above Lake Bidighinzu in the Mesu 'e Roccas corridor (between the rocks), near Thiesi (left of the SS 131bis road to Ittiri) in the province of Sassari in Sardinia . The nuraghe is hidden in the maquis on a small piece of meadow separated by dry stone walls between the edge of the plateau and the ridge . Protonuraghen (also corridor or pseudonuraghen, Italian Nuraghe a corridoio ) are the pre- or early form of the classical tower structures or Tholosnuraghen ( Italian Nuraghe a tholos ) of the Bronze Age nuragic cultures of Sardinia.

Front'e Mola has inwardly sloping, almost completely preserved outer walls. The entrance with architrave (without relief opening) leads into a 2.5 m high straight corridor covered with stone slabs. In the back of the corridor, two niches of different sizes branch off at right angles to the left and right of the corridor. In the front part on the left there is a so-called guard cell near the entrance, as shown by later Tholosnuraghen . Opposite a corridor branches off to the right. Here, a stairwell leads to today's roof terrace, which is still six to eight meters high, with the remaining walls of an elongated room. Excavations did not reveal the date. A model of the system is in the Museo Nazionale GA Sanna in Sassari .

Time position

The approximately 300 Protonuraghi on Sardinia were formed during phase B of the two-phase Bonnanaro culture , which was the successor to the both megalithic and Copper Age Monte Claro culture between 1800 and 1500 BC. Ruled.

Nearby lies the necropolis of Enas de Cannuja .
